This was a new contemporary house with panoramic views across the countryside, with some remains of an old garden.
The Brief:
A complimentary design linking the house to the wider countryside; incorporating a sitting area in the garden, in which the client wished to place some existing furniture. There was quite a limited budget.
The Design:
A dry river bed which tapers away into wild flowers and the view: place a swan gate to break up the strong fence line, inviting you into the landscape (even if it’s not your field!)
At the house end, the stones curl around to a retaining wall with step up to the house, the wall line curves round, tapers away to start a circle which is continued with Cuppressus sempervirens ‘Stricta’, giving a sense of enclosure to the seating area.
